A Washington, DC-based rights charity International Justice Mission (IJM) eventually took on the case and got her acquitted. Once free Njoki, the mother of three, decided to turn her experience into positive energy that would seek to transform her community's experience with police and also press community members to try to overcome their fear of police because she says it fosters tension between the police and the community.
