TRADERS EXCHANGE EURO AT TIRANA STREET MARKET.
Traders at Tirana's street market exchange euros for the first time as
Albania was introduced to the new currency on the first business day of
the year Jaunary 3, 2002. The street markets accounts for $2.4 billion
transaction in a year compared to just $500 million by all banks and
licenced exchange offices together and the Bank of Albania fears money
laundering could take place during the transactions to euro in this
uncontrolled market. REUTERS/Arben Celi
