Fishermen prepare their baits at the port in Dellys
Fishermen prepare their baits at the port in Dellys, some 100 km (62 miles) east of Algiers, August 18, 2009. Dellys fishermen still employ small boats and traditional methods to land their catch. They complain that fish are growing scarce and say help is needed to preserve their livelihoods. Dellys is a small coastal town on the Mediterranean in northern Algeria that was left isolated by a brutal civil conflict during the 1990s. The region's principal activities are fishing and farming.
