Local residents react after attackers, thought to be Moslem rebels, slashed the throats of 16 Algerian villagers and wounded nine others at Ain Soultan in the Ain Defla Province, southwest of Algiers December 27, in the worst massacre since the start of the moslem holy month of Ramadan. The rebels shelled Khemis Meliana at the same time wounding at least 16 people.
