Islamist Algerian party MSP (Movement for Peace and Society) leader Mahfoud Nahnah, formerly of Hamas Party, announces February 21 his candidacy in the forthcoming Algerian presidential elections, February 21. The military has thrown its weight behind the presidential candidacy of former minister Bouteflika in elections planned for April.
