Buenos Aires, Argentina (Argentine Republic)
ARGENTINE DEPOSITORS CRY OVER FROZEN SAVINGS IN FRONT OF GOVERNMENT
PALACE.
Argentine depositors cry while protesting against the administration of
President Eduardo Duhalde in front of the Casa Rosada government
palace, May 3, 2002. The Argentine government is poised to sign a
decree that will enable it to return depositors' fixed-term savings as
10-year bonds, infuriating them with the prospect of being given bonds
by a government that has already defaulted on the national debt.
