Actors perform an ancient Mayan play in Guatemala
Actors perform an ancient Mayan play in Rabinal, Guatemala January 24, 2006. Almost extinguished by army massacres and repression during Guatemala's 36-year civil war, the 'Rabinal Achi' is flourishing again after being named a masterpiece by the United Nations. Anthropologists believe the play has been performed since 1400 AD, making it the oldest in the Americas. The play tells the story of a conflict between two post-classic Mayan kingdoms five hundred years earlier. REUTERS/Daniel LeClair IMAGES TAKEN JANUARY 24, 2006
