A Dutch soldier, a member of the International Security Assistance
Force (ISAF) secures a German convoy at the Bagram International
airport on January 15, 2002. U.S. warplanes began hunting for new
targets after demolishing eastern Afghan hideouts of al Qaeda and
Taliban forces as Japan said on Tuesday it may pledge $500 million for
the reconstruction of war-battered Afghanistan over the next 2-1/2
years.
