GOVERNOR OF NSW INSPECTS BURNT DOWN HOUSE IN WESTERN SYDNEY.
The Governor of New South Wales, Marie Bashir, walks through the rubble
of one of the six homes destroyed by a bushfire in the township
Warrimoo, located in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney December 27,
2001. More than 100 summer bushfires continue to burn out of control on
Sydney's southern and western outskirts as thousands of weary
firefighters across the state of New South Wales battle blazes for a
third day. Some 140 houses and thousands of hectares (acres) have been
destroyed, but there have been no deaths or serious injuries.
