OCTOGENARIAN EDITH EASTON PROTESTS TO SAVE THE KANGAROO IN SYDNEY.
Edith Easton, 84, of Sydney holds her placard during a demonstration to
save the kangaroo in Sydney July 13, 2001. British animal rights group,
Viva, which successfully fought to have kangaroo meat taken off the
shelves of leading British supermarkets, has launched a global campaign
to halt Australia's annual cull of kangaroos and the sale overseas of
their meat and skin. But farming parks and wildlife officials say the
campaign is unfounded as kangaroos are in no danger of disappearing
because of commercial culling.
