BABY FRILLED LIZARD ON KEEPERS THUMB AT SYDNEY ZOO.
A two-week old Frilled Lizard clings to a keeper's thumb at Sydney's Taronga Zoo March 30 as the zoo enjoys one of their best ever breeding seasons with 30 baby lizards born in the past four months. The Frilled Lizard, also the inspiration for the Sydney 2000 paralympic Games mascot, "Lizzie", is named for its Elizabethan-like ruff around its neck which they extend to discourage attackers. The ten centimetre long baby will grow upto 95 cm and could expect to live for 20 years.
