A juvenile cheetah snarls while patrolling an enclosure during its introduction to the public at Sydney's Taronga Zoo April 16, 2001. Bred in South Africa, the cheetahs are on a two-month loan to Taronga Zoo before relocation to an open-air zoo west of Sydney, where they will be be part of a breeding program with offspring destined for Australian and Asian zoos. The word "cheetah" is derived from the Hindu word "chita", meaning speckled, a reference to the animals' spots.
