RESEARCHER TIM DEMPSTER SWIMS WITH CLIPBOARD AROUND BUOY LOCATED 10
KILOMETRES OFF SYDNEY.
Researcher Tim Dempster reads his clipboard as he swims near a
barnacle-encrusted buoy located ten kilometres outside Sydney Harbour
April 24, 2002. Snorkelling in water up to 100 metres deep, Dempster
has been studying for the past three years the number of fish that
congregate around the buoy, trying to discover why Pelagic fish such as
marlin, tuna, king fish and dolphin fish do so in such great numbers.
His research has resulted in more than $A230,000 (US$120,00) being
allocated for the deployment of more buoys along the coastal waters.
