People ride the ferris-wheel as storm clouds build behind at the
Hawkesbury Show located 50 kilometres west of Sydney. With 600
Agricultural shows and fairs throughout Australia per year, Bill Davis
spends 11 months of the year on the road with his children and
grandchildren travelling some 30,000 kilometres zig-zagging from
tropical North Queensland to the southern island of Tasmania.
Australia's vast expanses and scattered population means the 'showies',
unlike their American counterparts who can have a permanent base, have
to be constantly on the move looking for business-they are the modern
day Nomads. Picture taken 12 April, 2002. REUTERS/David Gray TO MATCH
