JOURNALISTS GATHER IN KAPRUN SPORTS HALL DURING NEWS CONFERENCE AFTER AUSTRIAN TRAIN DISASTER.
Journalists gather in the Kaprun sports hall during a news conference by the governor of Salzburg, Franz Schausberger, after yesterday's train disaster in Austria, November 12, 2000. Austrian rescuers will begin hacking through the charred wreckage of an Alpine funicular train on Sunday to recover up to 170 bodies after a tunnel blaze destroyed a carriage packed with young skiers. Eighteen passengers escaped from the funicular train, which was trapped deep inside the 3,200-metre Kitzsteinhorn mountain southwest of the city of Salzburg.
