Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is greeted as he arrives to launch
Honda's new 170 million ringgit ($44.74 million) automobile production plant
in Pegoh, in the southwest state of Malacca, 120 kilometres (72 miles) south
of Kuala Lumpur on January 30, 2003. Mahathir on Thursday launched the new
Honda Malaysia's Pegoh factory, Honda's 20th plant, spread over 80 acres at
the HICOM Pegoh Industrial Park. The factory, currently with 600 employees,
has an initial production capacity of 20,000 vehicles per year. On the left
is chairman of Honda Malaysia and Malaysia's automotive maker DRB-Hicom,
