A "hijra," the Bangladesh term for eunuchs by birth, dances during their annual gathering at Dhamrai on the outskirts of Dhaka September 17, 2000. Treated as social outcasts in Bangladesh, they met to demand government action to protect their lives and livelihood. Hijra typically earn money by singing, dancing and other performances.
