Tatyana Yarmoshuk and Merten Minke, workers from "APB BirdLife Belarus", prepare equipment for measuring carbon dioxide gas in a marsh near village of Bartenikha, some 90 km (56 miles) west of Minsk, April 7, 2011. The project "Restoring peatlands and applying concepts for sustainable management in Belarus ? climate change mitigation with economic and biodiversity benefits" has been running in the country since September 2008. The project will rewet over 14,000 hectares of degraded peatland, and quantify greenhouse gas emission reductions, participants said.
