Carcasses of cormorants are propped up by a lake to attract living cormorants for hunting near the village of Selets, some 250 km (155 miles) southwest of Minsk, October 17, 2005. The state fishing industry commissions every year a cormorant hunt, in which hundreds of these fish-eating birds are killed to ensure a higher stock of wild fish for commercial use. A hunter receives 5100 Belarussian roubles ($US 2) per beak. REUTERS/Vasily Fedosenko
