FAMILY MEMBERS OF BELGIAN PHOTOGRAPHER THIERRY FALISE LEAVE THE FOREIGN
MINISTERY IN BRUSSELS.
Family members of Belgian photographer Thierry Falise, imprisoned in
Laos, smile as they leave the Foreign Ministery in Brussels July 2,
2003. His sister Beatrice (C), brother-in-law Guy Deschuyteneer (L) and
mother Francoise Falise (R) went to see Belgian Foreign Minister Louis
Michel after a court in communist Laos handed down 15-year prison
sentences against Thierry Falise, French journalist Vincent Reynaud and
Naw Karl Mua, an American pastor of Laotian origin, reporting in this
conflict zone. The three foreigners were convicted of obstructing
officers, possession of war weapons and explosives, possession of drugs
and being involved in an incident that caused the death of a local
militiaman. REUTERS/Francois Lenoir
