Brussels, Belgium - Kingdom of
Belgium's Crown Prince Philippe slips the wedding ring on the finger of his bride Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz during the religious wedding ceremony at the Brussels Saint Michel cathedral December 4. The couple, married in a civil ceremony earlier on Saturday, took their wedding vows in the three languages of this linguistically divided country. The 39-year-old future king and Mathilde, who is 13 years his junior, married first in the gothic Town Hall on Brussels's medieval Grand Place, in a ceremony conducted in French, Dutch and German. The couple then went on to the recently restored Cathedral St Michel for a religious ceremony. This is to be the last royal wedding of the century.
