Brussels, Belgium - Kingdom of
Belgium's Prince Philippe (R) and his new wife Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz hold hands during their civil wedding ceremony at the Brussels Town Hall December 4. The couple married in a civil ceremony on Saturday, taking their wedding vows in the three languages of this linguistically divided country. The 39-year-old future king and Mathilde, who is 13 years his junior, married first in the gothic Town Hall on Brussels's medieval Grand Place, in a ceremony conducted in French, Dutch and German. The couple then went on to the recently restored Cathedral St Michel for a religious ceremony. This is to be the last royal wedding of the century.
