Bolivian Aymara Indian women shop for meat at a local market in La Paz, October 4, 2000. Due to a 17 day-long nationwide strike, with all roads leading in and out of La Paz being blocked, citizens are starting to suffer food shortage and market vendors have been forced to shut down temporarily. Food scarcity has also meant that meat prices have doubled and the cost of vegetables has risen fourfold since the roadblocks began.
