Crafts made from salt are exhibited for sale to tourists by local residents on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni, the world's biggest salt desert, where until recently mining salt was the only way to survive in this cold, arid corner of southwestern Bolivia, July 14, 2007. The Salar is becoming a must-see for adventurous visitors to South America, with its native pink flamingos, thousand-year-old cacti, rare hummingbirds and hotels built entirely from blocks of salt.
