A Waura Indian is seen during sunrise at the "Quarup" festival of the dead in Alto Xingu park in the lower Amazon August 14, 2005. The "Quarup" is a ritual performed by the Indians of the Xingu region in Brazil in homage to their dead. In this ceremony, they not only honor past heroes, but also seek to pass on their virtues to the younger generations, keeping them alive in the spirit and practices of the tribe.
