Gleisi Hoffmann attends her swearing-in ceremony at Planalto Palace in Brasilia
Brazil's new Chief of Staff Gleisi Hoffmann attends her swearing-in ceremony at Planalto Palace in Brasilia June 8, 2011. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff accepted on Tuesday the resignation of her chief of staff, Antonio Palocci, following a three-week scandal over his finances, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. Palocci, also a former finance minister, offered his resignation as one of Rousseff's most influential aides after local media reported last month that he increased his personal wealth 20-fold as a corporate consultant while serving in Congress.
