The BT communication tower is seen from Primrose Hill in London April 9, 2013. The sale of BT in 1984 began what was dubbed "the long march of privatisation" under 18 years of Conservative rule which has been emulated by governments around the world. The Conservative legacy, begun under Margaret Thatcher, transformed British industry and even helped inspire the former communists of eastern Europe.
