Lord and Lady Archer arrive at the Central Criminal Court, London, July
19, 2001. The jury in the trial of former politician and best-selling
novellist Archer has returned a verdict of guilty, on charges of
perverting the course of justice and perjury. Archer was accused of
lying and creating false diaries to back up a false alibi and win
500,000 pounds ($700,000) in libel damages from the Daily Star
newspaper in 1987.
