The Russian 4-masted barque Kruzenshtern sails in the 1998 Tall Ships Race July 19 followed by the Sagres of Portugal. The tall ships left from Falmouth in Cornwall on Sunday, making a voyage of 740 nautical miles across the Bay of Biscay to Lisbon, Portugal. The event is due to finish in late August at Dublin, with the ships returning from Vigo in northern Spain. The Kruzenshtern is the largest ship competing in this year's race, with a length of 114.5 m and beam of 14.2 m.
