Britain's Queen Elizabeth II views the crowds as she travels to St
Paul's Cathedral in the Coronation Carriage eascorted by a footman for
the Golden Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving in London June 4, 2002.
Thousands of people gathered in central London for the festivities on
the final day of the celebratory weekend marking the Queen's 50th year
on the throne. The golden coach was first seen in public in 1762, when
King George III travelled to the state opening of parliament. It cost a
hefty 7,562 pounds to make, the equivalent of over $1 million today. It
was last used at the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
