Britain' s opposition Conservative party leader William Hague addresses the State of the Economy conference in central London December 5, 2000. Hague announced that the Conservatives plan to cut taxes by 8 billion pounds if they are elected at the next general election. Hague said that along with the planned tax cuts, his government would increase public spending on the NHS and education.
