DON HALE, EDITOR OF THE MATLOCK MERCURY, ARRIVES AT THE COURT OF APPEAL
IN LONDON.
Don Hale, editor of the Matlock Mercury, arrives at the Court of Appeal
in central London January 15, 2002. Hale led a campaign for the release
of Stephen Downing, who has served a 27 year jail sentence for the
murder of typist Wendy Sewell in 1973. Downing is hoping his conviction
will be quashed by the court following his release on bail last
February. REUTERS/Ian Waldie
