Sarah Dallas, an employee of the Lyon and Turnbull auctioneers in
Edinburgh holds the spear on March 26, 2003 which was used on February
14, 1779 by a Hawaiin native to kill the late British explorer Captain
James Cook on the island of Hawaii. The weapon, which has been
fashioned into a walking stick and handed down through the famliy of
one of Cook's fellow naval offcers was sold at the auction house on
Wednesday for 135,00 pounds sterling ($212, 342). REUTERS/Jeff
