ARTIST QUINN STANDS BESIDE A SCALE MODEL OF HIS SCULPTURE 'ALISON LAPPER PREGNANT' IN LONDON.
British artist Marc Quinn stands beside a scale model of his sculpture 'Alison Lapper Pregnant' at City Hall, London, which was chosen on March 15, 2004 to fill the vacant fourth plinth in London's Trafalgar Square from next spring. Quinn's sculpture portrays the British artist Alison Lapper, who was born with no arms and shortened legs, when she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant. A second sculpture by Germany's Thomas Schutte was also selected by the Fourth Plinth Commissioning Group to replace Quinn's work for a further 12 to 18 months. each.
