US PRESIDENT BUSH AND SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT MBEKI AT BILATERAL
MEETING IN PRETORIA.
U.S. President George W. Bush meets with his South African counterpart
Thabo Mbeki and their respective government senior officials, during
their meeting at the historic Union Buildings in Pretoria, July 9,
2003. Bush said Wednesday he saw Mbeki as "an honest broker" over
Zimbabwe, easing relations between Washington and Pretoria strained by
the Iraq war. Bush's trip aims to boost democracy and economic
development in Africa by spotlighting a $15 billion U.S. program to
fight AIDS and a $100 million initiative to stamp out terrorism.
