CAMBODIAN MEN PRAY AS A SKULLMAP IS DISMANTLED AT A GENOCIDE MUSEUM IN
PHNOM PENH.
Cambodian men pray at a Buddhist ceremony as around 300 skulls that
formed a giant map of Cambodia are dismantled at a genocide museum in
Phnom Penh on March 10, 2002. A giant map of Cambodia formed with the
skulls of victims of the 1970s Khmer Rouge "killing fields" regime was
removed on Sunday from a genocide museum in Phnom Penh. The skull map,
inlaid with Cambodia's two main rivers in blood-red paint, was put on
display at the Tuol Sleng genocide museum after the Khmer Rouge were
ousted from power in 1979. Officials now say it is time to give the
victims' remains a proper resting place. REUTERS/Chor Sokunthea
