FORMER KHMER ROUGE LEADERS IENG SARY AND KHIEU SAMPHAN IN PAILIN.
Ieng Sary (L) and Khieu Samphan, two former Khmer Rouge leaders, arrive
to pay thier respect to Khieu Ponnary, the first wife of late Cambodian
dictator Pol Pot in Pailin, July 2, 2003. Khieu Ponnary died in Palin,
the Cambodia's remote northwestern province on Sunday, just months
after the United Nations and Cambodia signed a long-awaited deal to put
members of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge on trial for genocide.The
ultra-communist Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia from 1975 - 1979 and are
blamed for killing some 1.7 million people.
