Lenard Kidd fertilizes the grass under a blanket of snow left by a recent storm, May 9, 2002, in front of the P&H grain elevators in Mossleigh, Alberta. Kidd uses an auger trailing the seeder so the fertilizer is applied on top of the grass but under the snow and plans to pasture his cattle on the land when the grass grows. The wooden grain elevators were built in 1930. The village of Mossleigh is 95 kilometers (60 miles) south-east of Calgary.
