POLICEMEN CLOSE OFF AREA AT US CAPITOL AFTER SUSPICIOUS LETTER FOUND IN
DASCHLE OFFICE.
Members of the U.S. Capitol Police close off a portion of the nation's
Capitol after a suspicious letter was found January 3, 2002 in the
office of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD). Police said
initial tests on a powdery substance in the envelope were negative for
hazardous biological materials, but further analysis is needed to
