One of South Africa's top women politicians, Cheryl Carolus, seen today at the launch of a railway station, was named October 2, as the country's new High Commissioner to London. Carolus currently serves as the ruling African National Congress' acting secretary general but has said publicly in recent months that she wanted to step down from active politics.
