Jury president, French director Patrice Chereau holds a film clapper on the first day of the 56th International Film Festival in Cannes, May 14, 2003. Chereau presides a nine-member jury which will screen twenty film entries which compete for the prestigious Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the 12-day film festival.
