United States artist Dale Chihuly speaks to a group of Israeli infantry soldiers visiting his huge ice wall at the base of the Old City walls nearby the Tower of David (L) after its installation was completed October 3. The 64-tonne ice wall, imported from Alaska to jerusalem, is a millennium display which probably won;t see out the week as it is quickly melting. Chihuly, renowned for his glass sculptures, said he hoped visitors would see the dripping monument as a metaphor for peace between Arabs and Jews. "If people see it as a symbol for the melting of tensions, then that's wonderful," he said as the piece dripped. It cost $100,000 to bring the ice from Alaska and install the artwork.
