Chilean prosecutor Mauricio Diner (L) shows journalists cartons of milk that are nearly one year expired which police discovered being fed to patients at the Pequeno Cottolengo in Quintero, some 160 km (100 miles) northwest of Santiago July 12, 2011. Police raided the local branch of the Pequeno Cottolengo international network of shelters run by the Roman Catholic Church to shelter and aid mentally handicapped children and adolescents, after an employee denounced them for physically abusing the patients. The officer in charge of the raid, Major Jaime Zuniga San Martin, told journalists that they will continue investigating the evidence, including the expired food and photographs taken by the accuser of patients tied to their beds and showing bruises on their bodies.
