An environmental activist walks on Olivares glacier at Los Andes Mountain range
An environmental activist walks on Olivares glacier where a camp of Greenpeace environmental activists is disposed for the symbolic founding of "Republica Glaciar" (Glacier Republic), some 5,000 meters (16,404 ft.) above sea level, at Los Andes Mountain range, near Santiago city, March 2, 2014. Republica Glaciar is an event aimed to draw attention on the importance of the Chilean glaciers protection as a huge water source which could be threatened by large hydroelectric and mining projects on the high mountain, and raise awareness about the environmental impacts of its intervention, according to the organisers.
