Valeria, who suffers from Down Syndrom, peeks through the volleyball net at a local school in Santiago, November 20. The Altamira school is one of two schools in Chile which has been integrating children with Down Syndrome into regular class rooms. The private school, which receives no government subsidies, opened ten years ago and was inspired by Belgium and Swedish integration programs. The school's success has atracted visitors from European countries, interested in the local program developed by Altamira's teachers.
