BOTTLE OF CHILEAN WINE FOR PINOCHET FUNDRAISING.
A woman shows a bottle of "Capitan General," a Cabernet Sauvignon harvest 1996 named after former leader General Augusto Pinochet's military rank, in Santiago January 28. The Chilean organization Corporation of Friends of the Fatherland, a right-wing pro-Pinochet group, launched the wine in hope of alleviating Pinochet's increasing legal expenses. The certificate mentions that the wine is dedicated to the most brilliant military mind of the 20th century and to the Second Liberator of the country, General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte. The wine is only being sold through phone orders and has a cost of aprox. US$21. Pinochet was arrested at the request of a Spanish judge on October 16, 1998 while in London for medical treatment.
