PINOCHET SUPPORTERS REACT WHEN HEARING SUPREME COURT RULING.
Supporters of former Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet react when hearing the ruling of Chile's Supreme Court in Santiago, August 8, 2000. The court voted to strip Pinochet of his immunity from prosecution, paving the way for charges of alleged human rights abuses to be filed against him. The court's 20 judges voted 14-6 against Pinochet's keeping his shield from prosecution as a senator in the upper house of Chile's congress, the court announced.
