Augusto Pinochet has failed for a second time to show up for medical exams at the Military Hospital and should be interrogated on January 9 as part of judge Juan Guzman's efforts to try the former Chilean leader for alleged human rights abuses during his 1973-1990 dictatorship. Pinochet's lawyers have already stated that their defendant will not show for the interrogations. In the meantime, Pinochet remains at his coastal estate in Bucalemu, 130 km southwest Santiago.
