LINDA WELLS HOLDS UP A PICTURE OF HER ADOPTED CHINESE-BORN DAUGHTER
KAILEE IN BEIJING.
Linda Wells, 50, from New Mexico in the United States, holds up a
picture of her adopted Chinese-born daughter Kailee during a news
conference aimed at finding a bone marrow donor for the child in
Beijing February 18, 2003. Kailee, 6, also known by her Chinese name
Changban, was adopted by Linda as a baby after she was abandoned as a
10-day old on the doorstep of a teacher-training college in Hunan
province in China. At the age of five, Kailee was diagnosed with severe
aplastic anaemia and is now critically ill. She could die within months
if a suitable donor is not found. REUTERS/Wilson Chu
