A recovered leper with "hare's eye", a condition that is commonly seen in people who have suffered leprosy, after a surgery at Xining village, 500 km (311 miles) south of Chengdu, capital of China's south-central Sichuan province October 20, 2006. "Hare's eye" is a condition that is commonly seen in people who have suffered leprosy. The disease destroys nerves around the eye and sufferers cannot shut or blink their eyes, leaving them vulnerable to infections.
